CROCODILE MANUFACTURES IN CHINA
Crocodile Packaging Limited, Europe's
leading designer and manufacturer of reusable and
single-use wooden transit packaging, has established a
modern manufacturing facility in China.
Located at Nanxiang, outside Shanghai,
production is already in progress and ongoing expansion
of the plant will bring investment to more than $1.8
million.
The new factory has been established to
provide a reliable global supply of Crocodile's
extensive range of packaging to many of the company’s
multi-national high-tech customers involved within
industries such as telecommunications, precision
engineering and automotive component supply. Many of
these companies, including Nokia,
Lucent,
Siemens,
Honda
and BMW
already rely upon Crocodile's unique expertise to ensure
the safe transportation of delicate components and
communications equipment throughout the world.
Using a range of specialist machinery
and production systems developed by Crocodile’s design
engineers, the new facility will have the capacity to
manufacture over 1000 boxes each week. Crocodile has
planned for this throughput, which will represent an
annual turnover of more than $3.5 million, to be
achieved by Q1 2002.
With an increasing number of UK,
European and US companies moving into South East Asia,
Crocodile is ideally placed to take its proven product
range into this burgeoning market. Commenting on this
latest development, Quentin Philip, Crocodile’s
managing director, says, “During the last ten years,
we have striven to provide our many customers with top
class quality products that perform reliably and cost
effectively. Now, as Europe’s leading supplier of
reusable and single-use transit packaging, we have moved
up a gear and are ready to take on the global
marketplace. We see our new manufacturing plant in China
as the first step in an ongoing campaign to service all
corners of the world from a local facility.”
